Franchising Update: Webinar Series
Session 4: Restructuring for future prosperity
Webinar  |  On Demand
COVID-19 has had an unprecedented impact on the Australian economy, with some franchise systems facing existential threats. Government support initiatives have provided life support, but when the support initiatives end in September many franchise systems may find themselves technically insolvent. Unless deals can be done with landlords and other creditors who have been held at bay by the Government’s temporary measures, franchise systems may have to consider some form of restructuring.

We expect the post-COVID-19 period may be a boom time for franchise systems, with market opportunities and a substantial pool of franchise prospects creating expansion opportunities for strong systems with a sound business model and the capacity to grow.

In this webinar we will discuss restructuring mechanisms for those franchise systems looking to position themselves for future prosperity with Dr David Goldman, a Partner from our restructuring and insolvency practice, as well as Morgan Kelly, a Partner at KPMG and restructuring and turnaround advisory expert.

David and Morgan will discuss how restructures can potentially be used by franchisors as a mechanism for future success.

Darryn McAuliffe from FRANdata will discuss the safe harbour protections for directors and how simple planning using a third party expert can not only protect directors but be a great starting point for securing post-COVID-19 funding.
