Health and Safety Insights: The year ahead
On Demand
2020 – The year the world was brought to an abrupt halt, forcing us to take stock and adapt to unprecedented levels of disruption across all aspects of life, specifically in the workplace.

In 2021, while the outlook for Australia is positive, businesses are having to adapt to the changes, and different opportunities, arising from the rapid adoption of flexible work practices and culture (irrespective of the need to do so arising from the COVID 19 pandemic), geo-political tensions in our region, and disrupted supply chains amongst other impacts. In adjusting to this new operating backdrop, it is timely to consider the emerging trends, latest changes and reforms set to shape workplace health and safety law in 2021 and beyond.

Our expert panel provide their predications for the year ahead, examining the following topics:

  • Considering a culture of compliance, whilst navigating the desire for ongoing flexibility;
  • Prioritising compassion and meeting community expectations in response to workplace deaths;
  • Intensification of WHS prosecutions against principal contractors, principals and JV partners; and
  • COVID vaccinations.
